may.2.25: started rebirth and i have a lot of opinions so far... covering chapter 1 and some parts of chapter 2!
okay, the opening with zack killed me, i loved it. set my hopes really high for the rest of the story, i just hope i'm not let down.

zack dropping everything, including cloud dfkghdfjkgfjkgdfg when he saw aerith on the news was gut wrenching... i love them both so much. they were made for one another. i missed zack, i still need to beat crisis core but now i'm thinking i'll wait until i beat rebirth to do so but i'm unsure... i love him and his energy.
i hated seeing zack holding and crying over aerith's body and once again... they are the blueprint. he finally came home to her...

i'm assuming going through the tear sephiroth made at the end of 7 remake brought the group to an alternate timeline or made another one coexist with theirs or something. i'm excited to find out, either way.
i played the rebirth demo so i was familiar with the nibelheim section. i really like this part of the game, seeing sephiroth before he lost his mind and seeing cloud with zack's mannerisms is fun.

we also get to see a lot of normal smiles from sephiroth, which i really like...

well, maybe these pics are a bad example, considering he's laughing about how he doesn't have a father.
i liked seeing the interactions in this section and sephiroth being a little camera shy. i know he probably thinks it's a little pointless/a waste of time to pose for them but it was cute seeing cloud(...) talk him into it.

the game is beautiful, like the remake was. i just kinda hate the changes to weapon upgrades and stuff. there are too many damn menus now and in remake it felt a lot more streamlined. fighting is still fun, i kinda hate that cloud can't jump up to hit shit with the buster sword now. well, maybe he can and i'm just being stupid about it. either way, it was driving me nuts. i also LOVE that they added a photomode, even if it is a little limited. I can see myself spending hours capturing photos but i'm gonna try to save that for a replay.
again, seeing cloud with zack's mannerisms is so funny. it doesn't even look like him any more sometimes dfjkghfkjg. the mako guardian boss fight was super fun and i loved the "such a puppy" line, with sephiroth's little smirk. the synergy cinematics are cute and i'm excited to see everyone else's.

cloud was kinda fujoing out watching zack and sephiroth ngl. why and how did he remember these moments like. this. gdjfkkfjdgkfdg

I LOVE sephiroth's crash out in the reactor. it's so good. i love the contrast between sephiroth's unraveling and cloud's. sephiroth's was almost instant and he immediately succumbs to the "truth" of what happened/what he is, whereas cloud continues to deny and suppress it. i need to kill hojo expeditiously. like i'm foaming at the mouth.

the library scene is so good, i loved it. sephiroth's pupils blowing in rage the more he discovers, getting quieter and quieter. reading aloud the sections that infuriate him. not even realizing cloud is there. so good. i need him.

i don't know how they did it but they made sephiroth look completely different from before the jenova revelations to the after. he's always looked stoic but after his discovery at the reactor he looks vacant. unless he's in front of jenova and you can see the spark in his eye, his resolve. maybe i'm reading too much into it.
the village destruction scene is so good and i LOVEEEEED the small hint that what cloud is telling the group may not be entirely... accurate.

cloud getting blasted back to the same position as the grunt on the ground and the grunt being mysteriously... gone is SO good and i love how they did it.

i had a lot of fun with the dumb filters here.
i have to wonder why tifa and her dad chose to hide in the reactor because personally, a soldier like sephiroth going batshit and burning everything around him all of a sudden after a visit to said reactor, i would only assume that it was next on his hitlist. the scene with her dad was still really emotional and i don't fault her for trying to kill sephiroth.

the sephiroth scene with jenova is really gorgeously directed, i love how the cables look like great big wings.

i kinda wish tifa had called cloud out about him not being there, but i know there had to be about a million questions running through her mind at his story. like, she's gotta wonder how the hell he knew everything that happened almost down to almost the exact detail. i don't really like the confrontation they had together on the roof, at all. like i get her being angry with cloud for implying she's not really herself and the fact that he's being so stubborn about talking to her but she also knows that something is obviously not Right with cloud as she has seen almost all of his "fits" firsthand. idk, i love tifa but i think this scene did her an injustice.

i HATE queen's blood game. hate it. i don't even want to try and play it. like it pisses me off. begone. i do like the relationship building you have to do, it adds a new element of challenge and stress though. djkhkgjfdghdfg i hate upsetting characters in rpgs, so... this should be neat.

cloud looked really cute here. and i think i immediately upset red after this scene though FGHfdghfgbd
i think they handled the girls together in remake so fucking well so can someone tell me WHY they suddenly decided to have fits of jealousy over fucking dipshit cloud all of a sudden. i love cloud but i do not want to see the bullshit forced catfights over him like it seems so ooc for aerith and tifa to get jealous over stuff like that. like idk lol. like there are bigger things at risk than a stupid love triangle and i KNOW they all know that.
when i left kalm i was immediately overwhelmed. i had no idea this game was going to be so... open world LOL. i'm nervous that i'll wind up being under leveled for some quests but i love to explore so. i think i will be okay.
